FLYING SPUR A

FLYING SPUR A

Overview

The Flying Spur A is an even more comfort-oriented choice than the Flying Spur model, offering a number of elevated features that mark it out as a very special luxury sedan.

With a choice of either a 4.0 litre V8 petrol engine or a 2.9 litre hybrid for those looking for lower emissions, it gives you all the power you need in a beautifully crafted package – one that offers an incredible travelling experience for driver and passengers alike.

Design

The Flying Spur A has a bright chrome grille with vertical vanes that makes its elevated status clear, while on each fender, there is a chrome ‘A’ badge.

The 21” wheels feature ten pairs of spokes, with bright machined faces to match the chrome detailing seen elsewhere on the car, while the pockets between the faces are painted grey, giving the wheels a sense of depth.

When you open the door you will see treadplates with ‘A’ emblems, before you enter the cabin. And once inside, the entire space is bathed in light, thanks to a panoramic tilt-and-slide glass sunroof.

The handcrafted leather seats feature a fluted pattern, however on this model it can be upgraded to Bentley’s optional Harmony Diamond Quilting. Furthermore, you can add contrast stitching in the colour of your choice, to give the upholstery even more definition.

The veneers on the cabin’s hard surfaces are made from Crown Cut Walnut and treated with an open-pore finish. This results in a more contemporary look than high-gloss veneers – and because it uses less lacquer, it is a sustainable choice. Indeed, sustainable materials are evident elsewhere in the car, with the carpets made from recycled Nylon and the deep pile overmats from environmentally friendly wool.

Performance

The Flying Spur A can be ordered with either a 4.0 litre, twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine or a 2.9 litre V6 hybrid powertrain. The V8 delivers 542 bhp (550 PS) and 770 Nm. It can take you from 0-60 in 4.0 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds) and it can reach a top speed of 198 mph (318 km/h)*. It can also be ordered with an optional pair of chassis systems that make the driving experience even better.

Bentley Dynamic Ride is a 48-volt electronic anti-roll system. It automatically stiffens the suspension when you take corners at speed, to aid the car’s stability, literally stopping it from rolling to one side as you turn. But when you drive in a straight line again, it loosens its grip, allowing for a much more comfort-focused, smooth ride – the best of both worlds.

Four-wheel steering is also included. At high speeds (e.g. on the highway) it allows the rear wheels to steer in the same direction as the front wheels, allowing you to glide across lanes with much greater stability. At low speeds, however, the rear wheels steer in the opposite direction, which reduces the car’s turning circle, making it easier to manoeuvre in tight spaces.

Drivers looking for lower emissions can consider the hybrid option. It is powered by a 2.9 litre petrol engine and an electric motor. Together, they produce 536 bhp (544 PS) and 750 Nm of torque, enabling the car to accelerate from 0-60 in 4.1 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds). It can reach a top speed of 177 mph (285 km/h)* and it can even reach 87 mph (140 km/h)* on electric power alone.

*Top speed with summer tyre fitted as original equipment.

Technology

The Flying Spur A comes with all the latest automotive technology, from driver assistance systems to cutting-edge air conditioning and in-car entertainment.

Its multi-zone climate control system means that everyone in the car can enjoy a comfortable journey, at a temperature that suits their needs. There is also an air ioniser, for the wellbeing of everyone inside.

The Front and Rear Seat Comfort Specification comes as standard. This means that all seats can be electrically adjusted for comfort. There are controls for the side bolsters and headrests, as well as a top tilt mechanism and cushion extensions in each front seat. And every seat also has its own heating, ventilation and massage settings.

For the driver, the graphics in the driver’s instrument panel have been designed to reflect the comfort-focused character of the car. The optional Bentley Rotating display allows the driver to choose between three different faces: the central touchscreen, a veneered panel housing three analogue dials or a veneered panel with no instruments at all.

Another option, the Touring Specification is a package of driver assistance systems that help with long-distance driving. They include adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, night vision and several collision-prevention systems for different driving situations.

If you opt to add the Bentley Rear Entertainment system, meanwhile, you can provide your back-seat passengers with screens on which they can watch movies or play games.

Personalisation

Personalising your car usually starts with the choice of exterior paint. Bentley offers seven standard colours for the Flying Spur A, but there are many more options to choose from in the Extended Range and the Mulliner Paints range, which includes new Topaz Blue. Together, they give you more than 80 colours to choose from.

Moreover, you can add the Blackline Specification, which changes most of the exterior detailing from chrome to black, and you can choose from a wide range of wheels. You can also opt for red or black brake callipers.

Inside the cabin, the Colour Specification is included as standard, which means you can choose from Bentley’s entire range of leather colours, carpet colours and colour layouts. You also have a wide range of veneers to choose from, including dual veneers, which comprise two different high-gloss woods, separated by a chrome pinstripe.

All this is just the beginning, however. To learn more about your options, please contact us here at Bentley Kaohsiung today.
